The opening target for Old Town Pizza in the old post office has shifted several times in fifteen months. Its latest target is late September 2026.
The 1930s-era building at 320 Vernon Street has been the most-watched construction site in Downtown Roseville since Old Town Pizza bought it in September 2024. It was supposed to open in 2025. Then ABC10 reported the opening had slipped to March 2026. By October 2025, the target had moved again, to June 2026. Co-owner Reese Browning confirmed June again in January, attributing the slippage to weather impacts on the historic renovation that turned out to be more significant than the crew had planned for. By June 2026, Downtown Roseville's own update had the project pushed once more, to late September.

Old Town Pizza's CEO has described the building as the only remaining WPA project left in Roseville, and the ownership group has been trying to keep as much of the original architecture as possible while bringing a 91-year-old post office up to current code. Architect Ed Mojica has described the goal as breathing new life into something that already has great bones. Published job-creation estimates have varied: Browning cited 30 to 40 new positions in January, while CBS Sacramento's March reporting gave 70 to 80.
The project is real. The $1.75 million purchase price and roughly $8 million total investment aren't small for a single Vernon Street address, and the city backed it with $100,000 in economic development support. Plans filed with the city call for roughly 400 combined seats across the main dining room and Slice Beer Co. taproom, and the rooftop level alone is now designed to hold up to 300 more. When it opens, it will be one of the largest single restaurant investments Downtown Roseville has seen in years.

Downtown Events and Projects During the Renovation
Downtown's recurring events and public art projects continued on their own schedules during the renovation.
Downtown Tuesday Nights, the free weekly car show, farmers market, and live music series, ran every Tuesday from June through late July as it has for years. That run is over for the season now, which is worth knowing if you've been meaning to catch it and assumed you had more time.
Concerts on the Square, held at Vernon Street Town Square, is still going. The 2026 lineup ran Urgent, a Foreigner tribute act, on June 20, then Maroon Vibes covering Maroon 5 on July 18. Two dates remain: Bee Gees Fever on August 15, and a September 19 ABBA tribute called Summer Night City.
Downtown also picked up a new piece of public art this summer. A mural by Hans Bennewitz and Jeremy Stanger went up on the back wall of Goldfield Trading Post as part of Blue Line Arts' Roseville Mural Project. Two more are planned, one on the Atlantic Street wall behind Goldfield Trading Post and another at Randy Peter's Catering & Event Center.
September Dates at Vernon Street Town Square
Here's the detail that ties this together. The final Concerts on the Square date, the ABBA tribute on September 19, lands on the exact same day as the Roseville Freedom Festival, also held at Vernon Street Town Square. Two separate, long-planned events stacking on one Saturday in the same square.
